Okay, so you know how I’m always out in the garden talking about planting seeds? Well, I do the same thing in my mind — and one of my favorite ways to do that is with a wellness vision board. Not an app. Not a Pinterest board on your phone. An actual, scissors-and-glue-stick, spread-everything-out-on-the-floor vision board. Trust me on this one.
My Bedroom Walls Were My First Vision Board
I’ve been doing this since I was in grade school — I just didn’t have a name for it yet. My bedroom walls were literally covered. Shaun Cassidy. Parker Stevenson. (Yes, I was that girl.) Outfits I wanted. And honestly? Pictures of how I wanted my stocky Italian frame to look someday.
Ha. That size 5 never showed up. And I could not be more grateful, because somewhere along the way, my vision stopped being about what I wanted to look like and started being about how I wanted to feel. That shift? That was everything.
What Twenty-Plus Years of Vision Boards Taught Me
I’m not exaggerating when I say this has been a real practice for me for over 20 years. I used to go to the library and grab the magazines they were throwing out — thick, glossy ones full of words and pictures that felt like possibility. I’d sit on the floor for hours just cutting and layering and dreaming about everything I wanted to be, do, and have.
But here’s the thing that changed, and I think it’s the most important thing I can tell you: my boards aren’t really about stuff anymore. They’re about feelings.
Like — how do I actually want to feel when I wake up? What does a really good day feel like in my body? My most recent board is full of words like rooted, radiant, alive. There are no new cars on it. No new wardrobe. The 4Runner I keep joking about? Not on there. Because what I really want is health and well-being and love and abundance — and an afternoon in my garden is going to get me there way faster than any car will.

So What Actually Goes On a Wellness Vision Board?
Whatever you want! Seriously, nothing is off limits. New house? Put it on there. Dream trip to Italy? Absolutely. A size 5 figure? Go for it, I’ll be right there cheering you on.
But here’s what I’d also ask you to consider as you’re cutting and gluing: how do you want to FEEL in that life? What do you want to actually be present for? Because that feeling — that’s the real thing you’re after. The image is just the anchor for it.
That’s what makes a wellness vision board different. It’s not a wish list. It’s a compass.
Okay Let's Actually Make One
Go dig out some old magazines. Hit the library discard bin — those are absolute goldmines. Print out pictures that make your stomach do a little flip. Grab a poster board, a glue stick, some scissors, and just go.
Put on music. Spread everything out on the floor. Give yourself an afternoon with zero agenda except this. Cut what calls to you. Glue it down. Write words in marker. Make it chaotic and layered and completely yours.
There are no rules. You can put anything on there. The only wrong way to do a vision board is to not do one.

The One Thing Most People Skip (Please Don't)
Hang it somewhere you’ll actually see it. Every. Single. Day. Above your desk, next to your bathroom mirror, right by the coffee maker — somewhere your eyes land without even trying.
That’s really the whole thing. Let it work on you in the background, every morning, before the day gets loud. You don’t need a perfect vision board. You just need yours.
Now go plant some seeds. 🌱
