It was through journaling that I uncovered my true desires and ambitions. It wasn’t about money or fame; it was about understanding. Understanding why I am here on this planet, and what I am meant to do.
One of my long-standing dreams is to own a bed and breakfast. Over time, journaling helped me see why. I want to create a space where people feel loved and welcomed — where they are reminded they are worthy of love, acknowledgement, and a little everyday magic.
Journaling has been part of my life for years. The simple act of writing down thoughts, feelings, and reflections has been profoundly transformative. I’ve journaled almost every day for nearly 30 years. And I always use pen and paper. Writing by hand activates areas of the brain linked to memory and emotional processing. It helps me slow down, reduce stress, and allow energy to flow more freely.
Some days, I just start writing without any plan — letting the words tumble out however they want. This often reveals the answers to the “what do I need to know?” questions circling in my mind. Other days, I focus on a specific lesson or challenge. I have dozens of journals tucked away, and revisiting old entries is like leafing through a map of my own growth. It’s powerful to see how far I’ve come — and where old patterns still ask for my attention.
If journaling feels intimidating, you’re not alone. There are days I stare at the blank page too. That’s when journal prompts become especially helpful. Writing helps me filter through the noise and reconnect with clarity, even when my mind feels cluttered.
You don’t need a singular purpose to start. Journaling can be about gratitude, personal growth, emotional release, or creative exploration. Some days it’s all the above. For me, writing opens the door for more grace and love to flow into my life.

How to Begin
- Choose a format that feels good — I recommend a physical journal if you can.
- Find a time and space that supports you.
- Start small — even a few minutes each day makes a difference.
- Use prompts if you’re feeling stuck.
- Let go of grammar and perfection — just write.
Benefits of Journaling
- Improved mental health and emotional resilience.
- Increased self-awareness and intuition.
- Better decision-making and problem-solving.
- Enhanced creativity and original thinking.
- Strengthened memory and deeper connections to meaningful moments.
Some days, I simply grab a pen and paper and start writing — no agenda, just words. Other days, I sit quietly with a candle, inviting guidance and wisdom to flow onto the page.
No matter what your beliefs are, words have the power to guide you home to yourself.
Try it. Find your own rhythm.
It doesn’t have to be complicated — a simple notebook and your morning coffee or tea is all you need.
“You’ve always had the power, my dear. You just had to learn it for yourself.”
— Glinda, The Wizard of Oz
If you’d like to start but aren’t sure how, here are a few prompts to inspire you:
- What is one thing you can do for yourself today? Describe it in full detail — what are you doing? How do you feel in your body? In your heart?
- What hobby did you love long ago that you’d like to pick up again? What made it so joyful for you?
- Think back to a challenging time in your life. What was the challenge? How did you get through it? What did you learn about yourself in the process?
I would love to hear about your own journaling journey if you feel called to share!
